Competition at the end of the second week

2007-03-05 16:30

It was a difficult week for the markets. The violent corrections of this past week provides emphasis on the fact that there is no easy money on the markets for a very long time. It was a straight down move, in the indices, gold, silver and the dollar/yen. The question for this week remains unanswered. When will the current movement stop?

Participants at the World TopInvestor are however doing very well, they know this represents both opportunities and threats to the active competitor, the first 10 have gains of more than 30% in just 2 weeks. Interesting enough none of the Top10 is trading stocks.

The volatility also reflected on Slovenian rankings, where four different competitors took first place during the week. Among them Aleš, who managed to close the week with 75.56 % return is now number two on the world rankings. The 31-year-old competitor profited by shorting  both gold and EURCHF on the forex market.

Off course there is also some losses. Unlike many gurus we at World TopInvestor also talk about losses, because losses can happen and do happen in real trading.  Remember this is a real trading competition with real people and real money. Zoltan Akos who was in the lead last week  with 86.42% is not among the top 10 this week. At the Top this week is Jozsef Német with 76,92%, and like the leader of last week he is also from Hungary.

All participants understand that the trick is keeping losses smaller than gains, and not being right or have a large percentage of winning trades. This helps no doubt, but maximising profits and control losses is the key if it can be done on a daily basis.
